We at Pagdand aim to work towards a future where humans and nature can exist together in harmony. As an NGO that works for biodiversity conservation, we strive to preserve existing biodiversity and in cases of lost biodiversity, to bring them back. Pagdand has proposed the idea to develop a biosphere zone in Gujarat.
To define a biosphere reserve, it is an area that has been designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to demonstrate innovative approaches to living and working in harmony with nature.
Pagdand hopes to develop this land not only as a means to ensure conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems, but to encourage sustainable development and traditional methods for resource consumption.
This zone can also be used as a site for research purposes in order to understand how the various elements in an ecosystem interact with each other as well as understand how to mitigate degradation of vital ecosystems.
